Contrary to the description, this feat does not require a "free hand" to work. It will work with any weapon and shield, two weapons and even with two-handed weapons. (Last Version:2.1.7b) (Kingmaker)
Strategy
Characters that have already invested in this feat's requirements should take this feat as well. The +4 dodge AC is a huge boost in defensive capabilities.
