The Seed of Sorrow is a quest in Pathfinder: Kingmaker.

Synopsis[edit | edit source]

What initially looked like an invasion has turned out to be an epidemic! This unknown disease kills anyone who becomes infected, and then monsters hatch from their corpses! Jhod Kavken and Tristian have established a field hospital in the capital. It isn't of much use yet, but they hope to discover a cure before the diseased are all torn to pieces!

Walkthrough[edit | edit source]

Visit Kavken's field hospital in the capital[edit | edit source]

  • To heal the diseased, we must first learn what's wrong with them. Until now, all we had were tiny pieces of torn flesh — all that remained of those poor people who exploded. Kavken's going to perform surgery on a living patient, and he's asked the baron/baroness to attend...

Participate in the surgery[edit | edit source]

  • Our brave patient (for historical record, her name is Madla Stasek) volunteered to be a test subject. Jhod is about to start the vivisection (ew, the very word gives me the creeps) in the hopes of figuring out the source of the disease. Even if the patient doesn't make it, her heroic sacrifice will never be forgotten! But I still hope she makes it.

Kill the monster[edit | edit source]

  • We did it! Jhod found the source of the infection — it was a strange seed in the patient's stomach — and pulled it out before some monster hatched out of it. We still had to deal with the monster, though — the seed opened a portal, and a beast jumped out of it and started rampaging around the hospital!

Kill the monster[edit | edit source]

  • It was terrible. Unable to stand the horrible pain, the patient died on the operating table. But her sacrifice wasn't in vain! Jhod managed to find the source of infection — a strange seed inside her stomach. Before he had a chance to examine it, the seed opened a portal and an ugly monster jumped out!

Outcome[edit | edit source]

So, we discovered the source of the disease: strange seeds in people's stomachs. We also learned how to cure it — the surgery is certainly not pleasant, but it's a far sight better than being torn to pieces! Now we just have to find out what these seeds really are, where they come from, and how they get inside people... Once we know that, we'll find the plant that spreads these seeds, cut it down, burn its remains, and salt the soil where it grew so this never happens again!
