It seems that King Irovetti doesn't care much for his subjects. The river pirates thrive by robbing defenseless civilians. Perhaps we could help somehow...

The river pirates plague the people of Pitax. Eimar, dramaturge and patriot, has spoken of a pirates' camp located not far from Littletown. Let's go there and show those scoundrels some proper river justice!

The whole story about the pirates turned out to be one big trick! Of course we emerged from the whole thorny situation with dignity. But from now on we should keep an eye out, and not be taken in by such simple tricks.

Walkthrough[ | ]

Dispose of the river pirates[ | ]

Book Event (Pitax River Bend)[ | ]

  • Upon approaching the zone you will get a Book Event.
  • First page:
    1. Athletics DC 32 +1440xp - proceed to second page.
      • On failure several characters roll Athletics DC 30 check.
        1. Passed: roll Fortitude DC 20, receive unknown amount of damage on failure
        2. Failed: roll Fortitude DC 25, receive unknown amount of damage on failure
    2. Mobility DC 32 +1440xp - proceed to second page.
      • On failure several characters roll Athletics DC 30 check.
    3. Lore (Nature) DC 32 +1440xp - proceed to second page.
      • On failure several characters roll Athletics DC 30 check.
        • If failed receive unknown amount of damage and roll Fortitude DC 25 check
    4. We threw the caution to the winds and approached the camp. - attack.
    5. On reviewing the situation, our leader elected to return at a later time. - leave the area, can return later.
  • Second page:
    1. Trickery DC 32 +1440xp
      1. Passed: Alchemist, Rogue and Melee Fighter will die. (no exp)
      2. Failed: Alchemist and two Ranged Fighters join the fight.
    2. Stealth DC 32 +1440xp
      • Passed: Alchemist, Rogue and Melee Fighter will die. (no exp)
    3. There was no time to waste. We burst from hiding with weapons drawn! - attack.
    4. That's when our leader set fire to the boats, sowing chaos in the camps before we launched our attack! (If used [Athletics] check on first page) - attack. Increases DC by 5 of several Diplomacy checks in Dialogue (Renshala Vascari).
  • If you attack directly you spawn on the east side of the map, otherwise you will spawn on south side.
    • Completing Book Event and then loading it's Autosave will result in spawning on the East side, no matter what choices you made.
  • Characters that get affected by [Athletics]/[Mobility]/[Lore (Nature)] failures:
    1. Affected: Player, Amiri, Ekundayo, Jubilost, Kalikke, Nok-Nok, Okbo, Regongar, Tristian, Valerie
    2. Not affected: Harrim, Jaethal, Kanerah, Linzi, Octavia and Mercenaries. The cause is unknown.

On the location[ | ]

  • Fight the enemies until there are only four left alive.
  • Renshala Vascari will approach you and engage in dialogue. At nearly every point you can [Attack] her.
  • With hidden Knowledge (World) DC 30 check you can recognize who she is (by selecting associated line), or have Jubilost in party.
  • First part:
    1. Diplomacy DC 32 +1440xp or 37 +7680xp, can be safely failed.
    2. Diplomacy DC 38 +11520xp, failure leads to combat.
    3. Diplomacy DC 25 +180xp or 30 +720xp (Must have recognized her), failure leads to combat.
    4. Bluff DC 38 +11520xp, Renshala comes closer and can be attacked, but to proceed forward you need other checks. Failure leads to combat.
  • If you passed one of the [Diplomacy] checks:
    1. Diplomacy DC 25 +180xp or 30 +720xp followed by Diplomacy DC 38 +11520xp.
      1. Success gives you Note From Celvoway, extra +1680xp and moves you to Global Map.
      2. Failure leads to combat.
    2. Mention Walsh Celvoway, if talked with him in Rushlight Fields, saying "Can you think of something he'd gain from your death?" will allow you to reduce [Diplomacy] check in the next objective.
      1. (Lawful Neutral) Diplomacy DC 25 +180xp or 30 +720xp
        1. Success gives you Note From Celvoway, extra +1680xp and moves you to Global Map. Renshala Vascari will support you when dealing with Walsh Celvoway.
        2. Failure gives you Note From Celvoway, extra +1680xp and moves you to Global Map.
      2. (Neutral) "We pretend this never happened, and I leave."
      3. (Chaotic Evil) [Attack] "I kill you, take whatever's in those crates, and claim it was self-defense."
  • (Chaotic Evil) choice and failing the checks that lead to combat will result in more enemies to kill.
  • There are two ways to loot the dead - either do that during combat, or attack Renshala Vascari. There is no other loot from the map other than NPC drops.

Confront Eimar[ | ]

  • Proceed with War of the River Kings quest until Pitax (City) is open.
  • Go to Pitax (City) (Academy) and talk with Eimar Deschamps.
  • You will be approached by Walsh Celvoway and Renshala Vascari (or Jhofre Vascari if she is dead). Your options are:
    1. (Lawful Good) or (Lawful Neutral) to prove Walsh's guilt.
      • You will be given Diplomacy DC 35 check +3840xp
      • You can reduce that check to DC 25 +180xp if you present four evidences, but some of them have requirements to be met:
        • When talking to Eimar you have to make him expose that Walsh was behind this plot.
        • You should have talked with Walsh Celvoway about pirates in Rushlight Fields.
        • You should have asked Renshala Vascari about what benefit Walsh gets from her death.
      • [End] Passing the check will put you on a good light of Pitaxian citizens.
      • Failing the check will make you guilty in the eyes of Pitaxian citizens, your actions are:
        1. Put the blame on Eimar (see below)
        2. (Chaotic Neutral) to attack everyone (see below)
        3. [End] "Whatever. Now get lost before I lose my patience." - you get Talwyn's Armor.
    2. "Wait! I am innocent. Any crimes I have committed were a result of Eimar's deception." to put all the blame on Eimar.
      1. [End] (Lawful Evil) or [Say nothing] - you get Riversong Amulet if you made alliance with Renshala Vascari.
      2. "Talwyn, think about what's happening. Is this really justice?"
        1. [End] (Chaotic Good) fight against Walsh - you get Walsh Celvoway loot, Talwyn's Armor, and Riversong Amulet if you made alliance with Renshala Vascari.
        2. [End] (Chaotic Evil) - you get Talwyn's Armor, and Riversong Amulet if you made alliance with Renshala Vascari.
    3. [End] (Neutral Good) to take all the blame
      • This will make you guilty in the eyes of Pitaxian citizens, you get Talwyn's Armor.
    4. [End] (Chaotic Neutral) to attack everyone
  • If you managed to prove Walsh Celvoway guilty you will get a small kingdom stat buff during Pitax Aftermath event.
  • If you was found guilty then you will get a stat debuff which would require a project to be removed.

Metagaming[ | ]

  • To maximize experience:
    1. Pass two checks in Book Event.
    2. Renshala Vascari: Pass [Bluff 38], [Diplomacy 38], [Diplomacy 25], [Diplomacy 38].
    3. Walsh Celvoway: Pass [Diplomacy 35].
    4. You get +43140xp, 682-785xp from kills, Talwyn's Armor, Walsh's loot and Loyalty +2, Stability +2 later.
  • To maximize rewards:
    1. Pass two checks in Book Event.
    2. Renshala Vascari: Pass [Bluff 38], [Diplomacy 38], [Diplomacy 25], mention Walsh, Pass [Diplomacy 25].
    3. Walsh Celvoway: Pass [Diplomacy 35].
    4. You get +33480xp, 682-785xp from kills, Talwyn's Armor, Riversong Amulet, Walsh's loot and Loyalty +2, Stability +2 later.
  • To maximize unique loot:
    1. Pass two checks in Book Event.
    2. Renshala Vascari: Pass [Bluff 38], [Diplomacy 38], [Diplomacy 25], mention Walsh, (Chaotic Evil) [Attack]
    3. Walsh Celvoway: (Chaotic Neutral) [Attack]
    4. You get +30032xp, Talwyn's Armor, Riversong Amulet x2, Walsh's loot.
