Spells are manifestations of magic in Pathfinder: Kingmaker, not necessarily of the offensive type. Most spells deal damage or inflict a condition on the target.

Spellbook Progression[ | ]

Different spellcaster classes unlock new levels of spells at different character levels but in terms of spellbook progression most of them can be grouped into several categories:

  • Full casters with spell preparation (can cast up to lvl 9 spells but have to prepare them): e.g. Wizard, Druid, Cleric (also Shaman and Witch in Pathfinder WotR) - they're usually the first to gain access to the next-level spells.
  • Full spontaneous casters (can cast up to lvl 9 spells spontaneously): e.g. Sorcerer (also Oracle and Arcanist in Pathfinder WotR): their spellbook progression is delayed by 1 level.
  • Half-casters (can cast up to lvl 6 spells): e.g. Bard, Alchemist, Inquisitor, Magus, Eldritch Scoundrel (also Hunter, Skald and Warpriest in Pathfinder WotR). Their spellbook progression is the same regardless of whether they cast spells spontaneously or have to prepare them.
  • Warrior casters (full-BAB physical classes with minor casting abilities: up to lvl 4 spells): e.g. Paladin or Ranger (also Bloodrager in Pathfinder WotR). They unlock even the 1st level spells fairly late (at level 4) and their caster level = their character level - 3.
