Sometimes the past catches up to us, despite our best efforts to keep as far ahead of it as possible. Valerie once left the Order of the Eternal Rose, and rejected the goddess of beauty forever. But the followers of Shelyn wouldn't so easily say goodbye to the reigning beauty of Brevoy...
A message from Fredero Sinnet was delivered to us. The paladin of Shelyn insists that the {baron/baroness} frees Valerie from any responsibilities and allows her to return to the service of Shelyn. I wonder what Valerie thinks of this...
Valerie is determined to meet with her former mentor and break with her past for good. Of course, we couldn't let her face this trial alone! Fredero Sinnet is waiting for us at the Oleg's Trading Post.
In the blink of an eye, Fredero, insulted by some ill-conceived words about Shelyn, challenged Valerie to a duel! The {baron/baroness} will act as her second – and I wouldn't be myself if I didn't go along to pen a stunning description for the fiery event!

The duel is over, and Valerie... Oh, poor Valerie! Her poor face! I hope once we're back at the capital, she will find a way to heal that terrible gash!
Valerie met her former mentor Fredero Sinnet and flatly declined his proposal that she return to the ranks of Shelyn's followers. I hope Valerie's troubles end here... if, of course, she truly isn't bothered by the terrible gash on her wonderful face!
Telling her "We don't have the time to bother with this." will activate hidden fail of the quest, Fredero Sinnet will be gone, but quest will be marked as completed. Consequences of such act are unknown.
You can ask Fredero several questions, but saying "I think you should talk to Valerie alone." will begin the dialogue sequence that will lead to a duel.
You can attack Fredero with (Chaotic Evil) choice, but that will anger Valerie and fail the quest.
You can come there without Valerie and kill Fredero, but the quest will fail at a later date anyway.
Act as second at Valerie and Fredero's duel[ | ]
Fredero is a very strong opponent, so if you intend to win it you have to pre-buff Valerie with everything you have, and perhaps, come at the higher levels rather than doing the quest straight away. Pre-casting Grease on the place where Fredero will stand during duel also helps.
The quest will complete regardless of who wins, but if Valerie wins you can order her to finish off Fredero, his guards will attack you if you do so.
The results of the duel will alter dialogue options during Judgment of the Gods quest, but no drastic changes. To maximize rewards/experience it's best to kill Fredero.
