Perception is one of the skills available in Pathfinder: Kingmaker.

Description[ | ]

This skill represents character's acuity of your senses allows you to notice fine details, see danger coming, and tell when people are lying or otherwise behaving suspiciously. You apply your character's Perception skill to checks required to:

  • Discern secret messages.
  • Get hunches.
  • Notice creatures and details.
  • Search locations.
  • Sense enchantments.
  • Sense motives.

In Kingmaker, this usually comes down to spotting hidden items and traps, and some dialogue options.

Perception checks are affected by a character's Wisdom modifier.

Unlike most other skill checks in the game, perception checks usually happen outside of dialogue; when your character gets close enough to a hidden object or trap, the game secretly and automatically rolls the check.

Also unlike most other skills, Perception is checked for every character and animal companion. Thus a large party with many animal companions has an excellent chance to spot most ordinary hidden items. But if all characters fail their checks, you will not be informed.

Similar to failed Lockpicking checks, your characters get an additional chance at failed checks if they increase their skill after leveling up.
