Chase My Shadow is a quest in Pathfinder: Kingmaker.

Journal[ | ]

How interesting! Enneo, Jaethal's suspected murderer and the scoundrel who set the elves on us, has been spotted near the Valley of the Dead. What's even more curious, there's an old woman there as well — a follower of Urgathoa. Jaethal seeks answers to many questions, about her past and her destiny, and asks the {baron/baroness/King/Queen} to help her in her search!

We're off to the Valley of the Dead. A follower of Urgathoa has been sighted there, and she may somehow be connected with Enneo. Maybe she can provide answers to some of the questions that torment Jaethal.
Seal Taneka's fate +720xp 002_DecideTanekaFate (259d99419a5ee7c43818135d3367ab07)
Taneka, priestess of Urgathoa, offered Jaethal a deal: the secret of a terrible ritual that gives life and strength, in exchange for turning Taneka undead. The {baron/baroness/King/Queen} must decide whether to do it or not.
  • Taneka is dead, and her evil secrets died with her.

Deal with Enneo +3200xp 003_DealWithEnneo (d69fd51fee625074482e8ab301400fd4)
With Taneka's sinister story is behind us, it's time to move on to our main concern — to deal with Enneo, Pharasma's inquisitor.
  • The {baron/baroness} sided with Enneo and killed Jaethal with his help.

We ignored our companion's request for far too long — and now it is too late. Oh well, that's just too bad.
The story ended with an incredible duel between the inquisitor of Pharasma and the inquisitor of Urgathoa! The {baron/baroness/King/Queen} had to choose a side in this epic confrontation. And came out victorious! As always.

Walkthrough[ | ]

  • During the throne room event you can refuse the quest, but you gain nothing for that.

Find Urgathoa's follower in the Valley of the Dead[ | ]

Seal Taneka's fate[ | ]

  • By choosing "Jaethal, I've made a decision." line you begin the quest sequence.
  • First you need to decide what to do with secret ritual knowledge:
    1. (Lawful Good) to refuse it.
    2. non-aligned or (Neutral Evil) to take it.
  • Then you need to decide what to do with Taneka herself.
    1. (Chaotic Good) to keep her dead.
    2. (Lawful Neutral) or (Chaotic Evil) to rise her as undead.
  • Both decisions have some effect on Jaethal's final quest.

Deal with Enneo[ | ]

  • After you are done with Taneka, Enneo appears.
  • Unless you [Attack] him right away you get to make an aligned choice:
    1. (Neutral Good), (Lawful Neutral), (Neutral Evil) to side with Jaethal.
    2. (Lawful Good), (Neutral) to side with Enneo.
      • Warning: in this case you will lose Jaethal and all items currently equipped by her, but you will get a special reward by talking to Enneo afterwards, see spoiler.
  • Choosing [Attack] "I've heard enough, and now it's your turn to feel the blade!" will make you fight less enemies.

Conclusion[ | ]

  • If you have sided with Jaethal you can talk to her in the capital about this quest:
  • "Regarding this story with Taneka and Enneo..." -> "What can you tell me about Enneo?"
    1. "Enneo had a goal, and he moved towards it with fascinating tenacity. He deserves our respect."
    2. "I do not like Enneo's fanaticism, nor the pointless indulgence of one's whims. There must be another way."
    3. "You are wrong to be inspired by Enneo's example. He was a fanatic and it led him to his death. Your desire for a carefree life of pleasure — that seems much more sensible."
  • To improve your chances of getting Good Ending for Jaethal:
    • Do not resurrect Taneka
    • In dialogue about Enneo's fanaticism choose options 1 or 2.
By supporting Enneo you forfeit Jaethal as a companion, but you can get a very powerful dagger Dormition from him as a reward.
